What Is Nuclear Stress Testing?

Nuclear stress testing is a very safe procedure which involves the injection of a small amount of radioactive tracer into your bloodstream. After the tracer has been injected and given time to circulate to your heart, a special camera takes pictures which reveal any area(s) in the heart that may not be receiving enough blood.

This procedure is more accurate than EKGs and is essentially non-invasive. The materials used in this procedure, such as Myoview or Thallium, have been proven to be safe and have virtually no side effects. In fact, this procedure has become a universally accepted alternative to other, more aggressive and sometimes less accurate heart-testing procedures.
